One of mine, a bit later than Dad's

Southdown Leyland National BCD819L at West Worthing 1979-1981
BCD819L, Southdown 19, a Leyland National from the first batch that Southdown received in 1973 in Tarring Road, West Worthing in about 1979-1981 on a 204 service. The majority of this batch was allocated to Worthing, for a long time. The only vehicles not allocated were 3 to 8 (excluding 6 which was exchanged with Maidstone and District for 26(PCD126M) which had a semi auto gearbox) which were allocated to Bognor Regis.

Of local interest are the shops on the left,  Photomart is still the site of a camera shop, now branded AllPhotos. In yellow next door is KG books ( I believe related to KG spares. the shop just to the left of the bus cab), now a tool shop. Next is Bollom dry cleaners , then the Hong Kong Chef., now the Shaan Indian Restaurant. I think the next shop was a furniture shop, it's now Tarring Clearance. Finally, KG Spares is still KG Spares.
In the background is West Worthing station and the Station Cafe. The only shop on the right that cab be identified is the Collectors Coin Medal shop that is still there today.
Car interest is provided ,firstly on the left by the rear end of a Rover P6, a blue L reg Hillman Avenger,  a V reg Escort Estate and a W reg car that could be a BMW or Peugeot?
Behind the bus is a MK2 Escort with driving school L plates.
On the right the red car could be a Vauxhall Chevette, then a Rover P5 , then possibly a blue Ford Anglia.

A Queen Mary in Goring Road, Worthing

This one from one of my Father's slides, Southdown PD3 933 6933CD just travels westwards along Goring Road in Worthing, just west of Alinora Avenue in August 1974 during the last days of the 31 service. Not much has changed in the vicinity, the concrete road surface has now been covered with tarmac and the change from 30mph to 40 mph is now behind the photographer, towards the Mulberry.I might be tempted to get a comparison shot in the evening if the weather holds off!

I've pinned a location to the map, click on the location link below to see the location.

Some more.....

A couple more today, one an aged black and white negative and a partially cleaned colour slide.

Southdown JCD73 at West Worthing
373 JCD73,  I believe this is a Leyland PD2 of 1942 with a 45 seater Leyland body, pictured on route 103 having passed West Worthing station and approaching the Tarring Crossing junction. Another rather poorly negative.

Southdown BUF154C at Worthing garage
1754 BUF154C, a C.1965 Leyalnd Leopard with Harrington Cavalier bodywork, looking a little drab in National White livery. I believe this is Worthing garage.
